HOLIDAY, holiday, HOLIDAY...

Hello hello,

It's finally time for another holiday!

This past week has absolutely flown by. Work was the same old, same old, but finally ended on Saturday (thank goodness!) I was forced to go to the hospital on Saturday morning, as Tony was experiencing anxiety at my leaving (as was Hilary). The morning absolutely DRAGGED by. Hilary brought the new PA to the hospital straight from her six trains and one bus, where I was to do handover. I would have preferred to have met her before Tony did so that I appeared confident and made her look competent (this may sound like I'm big-headed, but I assure you that when your well-being is in the hands of a stranger, you want the person handing over to at least have some confidence in her). Anyhow, I managed to handover within an hour and a half...

I then called a taxi and we went home together. I was stuck with a Hungarian girl, whose grasp of the English language is much like my grasp of Afrikaans (need I say more?) I felt awkward hanging around Hilary’s place whilst the other PA was there – as though I was imposing…

Hilary arrived home from the hospital and gave me ‘that’ look. Let me explain:
1) The new PA is a vegan/vegetarian – Hilary believes in Meat and three vegetables...
2) The new PA is not unpacking her things as she is only staying for a week – Hilary HATES her home looking messy…
3) The new PA is Hungarian and very quiet – Hilary does not like having to explain herself over and over…
4) The new PA believes in holistic therapy – Hilary may believe in it, but does not give it more credit than traditional medicine
5) The new PA is messy and does not leave things as Hilary puts them – Hilary does not care for this whatsoever…

I just smiled and nodded (as I do quite often these days!)

As the new PA had already eaten and does not believe in eating an evening meal, Hilary and I had dinner together. The new PA went to bed whilst we ate. Hilary just smiled at me and I knew what she was thinking. By 21h00 we had finished eating and I was getting ready to go to Debbie’s place. Hilary looked at me and asked me to stay a little longer… I got home at midnight.

Sunday arrived and I was awake at the crack of dawn (only because I have the luxury of sleeping late!) I went downstairs, made some coffee and then went back to bed. I spent the entire day indoors, listening to music, playing on facebook, chatting to my family and friends… it was AWESOME!!!!!! At around 19h00 Hilary arrived to take me back to her place for dinner (at this point you may be wondering why I would leave Debbie’s place to got to dinner at Hilary’s place? Well, the simple answer is that Debbie and the boys are away in Disney Land, Paris this weekend and I am house-sitting. Hilary does not want me to eat alone, so invited me to dinner). The new PA felt a little awkward with me being there in the capacity of ‘friend’ – as I’m sure I would, so I tried not to discuss Tony or work at all. Again, Hilary and I ate alone. After which, we all watched Dancing on Ice (which was rather nice). I then gathered my luggage, coat, shirt and shoes (which Hilary insisted I leave at her place for fear of my shirt and coat getting creased…) and then Hilary drove me back here. She walked me in to make sure everything was okay. The cats greeted me enthusiastically (as though this was some sort of competition…)

Today I printed my boarding pass for my flight to Amsterdam tomorrow, read the Solihull News and had copious amounts of coffee! Things could not get any better…. Or could they???
